The Saint Martin Festival Concert

On 21st November 2004 - to honour the festival of Saint Martin - the Zbor sv. Nikolaja prepared a concert in the Neogothic church in Šmartno pri Litiji. A lot of people who wanted to start their weekend a bit differently gathered at dusk.

That evening the young voices of Zbor sv. Nikolaja were dedicating themselves to happines, peace and compassion. Together with their conductor Helena Fojkar Zupančič, they were expressing deep thoughts and clear messages from the composers - those who passed away a long time ago and of those who still bravely journey through life.

In a relaxed atmosphere of the first part of the concer, the choir singers presented the audience with works of Slovenian composers - from the renessaince to the present day. The second part - shrouded in a mystical atmosphere of Gregorian chant along with a modern choir improvisation - connected space and time of the past to perception of presence, filled with magical images of eternity and constancy. Presenting the audience with a variety of emotionally intense songs of solitude, pain and the weight of daily routine, the Zbor sv. Nikolaja with their unique interpretation offered a way out of the golden cages into days of simplicity and trust.
