Priest's first mass after ordination - Jure Babnik

This year after more than 50 years Litija has witnessed a unique event. On 10th July 2005 parishioner Jure Babnik celebrated First mass and so took holy orders.

This event was an important milestone on Jure's journey and a great spiritual stimulation for the future, furthermore it was a great holiday for the local parish – God has summoned one of its members to be a servant of the gospel. The Zbor sv. Nikolaja, soloists and a symphony orchestra solemnly enriched the ceremony by performing the Coronation-Mass by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Jure got his education in theology at the Teološka fakulteta Univerze v Ljubljani and got his degree in 2004. His current occupation is at the Salezijanska formacijska bogoslovska skupnost in Rakovnik in Ljubljana as an educator and he's been also appointed as leader of project Oratorium.
