XIIth International Festival "Valvasorjevi večeri 2007"

The yearly international festival of chamber music Valvasorjevi večeri in Zagorje represents a great cultural event to the citizens of Zagorje as well as to visitors from the vicinity. The festival always reaps great success and is visited by a large number of visitors. The festival lasts since March to October and has already hosted three renown music artists, the famous mezzosoprano Marjana Lipovšek, the excellent flutist Anja Brglez and guitarist Martina Rančigaj, and the "Zbor sv. Nikolaja" choir. Through the end of this year, four more music artists will enrich the evenings of Zagorje; the renowned organist Matjaž Sevšek, the tambourine ensemble Dupljak, Primož Parovel on accordion and the famous bass-baritone Juan Vasle with the Opus Cuatro quartett from Argentina.

The "Zbor sv. Nikolaja" choir too was invited to participate at this festival and the audience were dazzled by its crystal clear sound and very lively interpretation of music pieces. In the first part of the concert, the choir prepared a selection of works by Slovene and foreign composers from the renaissance era to present day; J. Handl-Gallus, Eric Whitacre, Javier Busto, Damijan Močnik and others. In the second part it presented the audience with a range of selected Slovene songs and thus appropriately concluded the evening. The choir singers and their conductor Helena Fojkar Zupančič received a thunderous applause and high praise from the festival organizer as well as visitors.
