Slovenian Christmas

This year's christmas concert by the Zbor sv. Nikolaja enchanted the spectators with the old Slovenian christmas spirit and took them a few decades into the past. The concert took place in the church of St. Nicholas on Christmas day, 25th December 2006. The choir performed a piece called »Slovenski božič« (Slovenian Christmas), arranged by Matija Tomc and accompanied by a renowned organist Primož Malavašič.

In the second part of the concert the choir performed »kolednice« (slovenian christmas folk songs). Other participants were the St. Nicholas' girls and children choir, conducted by Klavdija Zupančič, Blaž Kladnik at the zither and Krunoslav Križ with an accordion.

This concert's specialty was the scenery, which represented a typical Slovenian surroundings, the singers, who wore national folk costumes, the nativity scene and the coming of the three kings. The joyful heralding of Savior's birth has warmed the hearts of visitors even more, and filled them with serenity of the Christmas night. People were charmed by the gentle sound of the zither and »kolednice«, and delighted by the angel singing from on-high.

Concert repetitions followed on 27th December 2006 in Dom Svobode in Trbovlje and 6th January 2007 in the church of Mother of God in Koseze.
