Participation at Festivals in Italy (Teramo, Pescara)

The Zbor sv. Nikolaja choir was from 23rd to 26th September 2005 a guest of Italy. It took part at two festivals in Teramo and Pescara.

XII. Rassegna Polifonica Aprutina 2005 is an international choir festival taking place each year in Teramo, organized by the local G. Verdi Choir. There were five Italian participants and one invited foreign choir – the Zbor sv. Nikolaja. The choir performed at both evening concerts and at a solemn mass, where all choirs performed Haendel's Hallelujah.

In Pescara the choir prepared an evening concert at the 39th festival of S. Andrew (XXIX Incontri Musicali S. Andrea), where in the past many great choirs presented their accomplishments. The Zbor sv. Nikolaja performed improvisations of Gregorian chants, spiritual music of Slovenian and foreign composers and Slovenian folk songs.

"Both festivals have been a pleasant experience. The people who organized these festivals enabled us to work at optimal conditions and really put an effort into it. All of our performances were successful – the music really encompassed the audience with high spirits. They were waiting for us after the concert and we found ourselves in a rain of compliments and congratulations. The most moving moment happened after the mass in Teramo, when we sang Gruber's Ave Maria and the audience became speechless.
However the greatest surprise followed in Pescara. Despite the fact that many of them had heard us sing for three times already, they took us to Pescara that was an hour away, wanting to experience another concert with us. Standing ovations at the end were just another conformation of our successful tour in Italy."
